PASSION AT WORK: How to Find Work You Love and Live the Time of Your LifeRegion: New York Date: Tuesday, March 28th at 6:00 PM Attendees: 28 Please sign in to RSVP.
We are very pleased to announce our next NY NetNights event with nationally recognized author, speaker, manager and consultant Lawler Kang as he speaks about the topic of finding passion and a fulfilling direction in relation to work and life in general. Listen, laugh, and learn as Lawler Kang presents highlights from his first book PASSION AT WORK: How to Find Work You Love and Live the Time of Your Life (Pearson Prentice Hall).
This engrossing and thought-provoking presentation is for any individual or organization that wants to transform mere jobs into your Life’s Work -- by releasing your passions at work.
Mr. Kang believes that yes, time is money… but time is also LIFE. We aren’t cats – we don’t get nine lives -- so how are you allocating your most precious asset – your lifetime? Are you satisfied with your returns to date or do you find yourself living on someone else’s terms? Are you having the time of your life, in the time of your life?
Drawing on powerful personal stories, quotes from industry titans, and ground-breaking research, Lawler will:
- Deliver convincing empirical and financial arguments why you, and your management team and organization should identify, align, and work your passions – NOW!
- Debunk the facade of Work/Life balance and challenge you to rethink your definitions of wealth and success; If money talks, it can also lie.
- Reveal some fascinating facts about how to consistently smack that seemingly elusive target of happiness.
- Present The Five PsTM a process that uses standard business tools to help you and your teams codify and pragmatically bring your passions to market.
Read more about Lawler Kang and PASSION AT WORK: How to Find Work You Love and Live the Time of Your Life at www.lawlerkang.com.
For an additional fee (for those who choose to participate), shortly after the general presentation, Lawler will lead an interactive, hands-on ‘Passion Taster’ walking participants through the first two Ps – Passions and Proficiencies.
Participants will enjoy two exercises. The first is designed to help you triangulate on defining the essence of your passions and in the process, kicking off the iteration of your personal mission. The second draws on your skill sets, values and experiences to uncover the critical interchanges between them and your Passion outputs that help to define your career (Life’s Work) options.
Lawler Kang will also be selling signed copies of his book at the event.

About the speaker: Lawler Kang
Lawler’s mission – to constructively rock the boat – had led his career in some interesting directions: merger and acquisition strategy consulting, an Internet incubator, and then to Scient, the leading force in e-Business consulting whose market cap peaked at $9 billion.
He started as an Engagement Manager in the business unit dealing with venture capital funded start-ups and was then was put in charge of growing Scient’s Northeastern presence to 85 Colleagues as Managing Director of Operations.
Most recently, Lawler released his passions in roles such as COO, General Manager and VP of Sales & Marketing in successfully turning around three (out of four) high/bio-tech firms. He started his career helping to grow the US subsidiary of a Japanese chemical concern from $2 to $40 million in five years. He also simultaneously started a Socially Responsible import firm out of Yogyakarta, Indonesia and founded an internet start-up during graduate school.
In a business context, Lawler has spoken at many conferences at Wharton and Harvard Business School and other Boston associations regarding entrepreneurship and technology trends. Lawler was featured in the American Airlines magazine, American Way, for his involvement and views on Socially Responsible business and an article he wrote on the dynamics of the non-profit sector, Darwin, Defining Value and a Beautiful Mind, was published in onPhilanthropy.com.
Lawler received his BA in International Studies from Vassar College and an MBA from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania with a focus on Entrepreneurial Management.
Living on Boston’s North Shore, Lawler is married, and has two hooligans. He serves as CEO of LK Ventures LLC, a consulting firm founded to help individuals and organizations bring passion to work. He speaks versions of French and Japanese, loves to travel, surf, and ski, and lusts to have time to play bridge.
